Encountering a piano at age nine, Charles's curiosity would lead to interest and finally obsession with music. By thirteen he was in a band playing parties at friend's homes, talent shows and local civic club events. Turning fifteen saw the entrance into working band traveling Oklahoma in the days of " teen hops" after every football game and festivals around the state. Eventually the group ( " Spix V ", based in Sulphur, Oklahoma ) would join the roster of bands working for a booking agent and playing military service clubs in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Texas and Colorado. Playing in various groups in college and beyond Charles was able to develop a talent for adapting to any musical situation. Theater musicals to casinos to outdoor festivals provided a wealth of learning opportunities, and you're never too old to learn ! From 2021-2024 being the front man in an Elton John Tribute, with one of his sons on bass, based in Houston, was a special project. Charles brings sixty-three years, and counting, of performing experience to CC Players. Click on above picture to see additional pictures of our musical journey.
Lead Vocals, Guitar
As with so many notable R&B artists, Buddy began singing in church. Family and friends quickly recognized there was something special about this good natured, friendly young man. Upon hearing the young singer, a band leader with a regional following, Earl Duke, took Buddy as an apprentice and put him on stage. Five years of work with Earl's band, and picking up the guitar as well, Buddy became a bonafide " Blues Man ". Buddy's reputation led to working with a variety of regional acts including The Love Doctor and John Haley. Buddy's musical experiences over the years give CC Players a unique soulful take on the wide variety of tunes in the band's set list. Coming of age in the era of " Classic Rock ", Henry was in awe of the rockers of the day, including Ronnie Montrose, Sammy Hagar, REO Speedwagon and 38 Special to name a few. Pursuing guitar became a passion with endless hours of listening and practicing. During high school and college, he performed in various local rock cover bands playing local gigs. He has provided guitar instruction and performed for worship teams over the years. Henry's talent affords him the opportunities to apply fifty years of playing many various types of music and leading him to CC Players, playing a wide variety of musical genres.
